Air pollution is undoubtedly becoming and increasing problem in urban centres. It is caused by the suspension of particles and gases in the air(16) and is directly connected with asthma, respiratory disease and cardiovascular disease and has been deemed as serious public health issue in Canada(7). The air pollution in Toronto mainly comes from "traffic, industrial sources, residential and commercial sources, and off-road mobile sources (i.e. air, rail, marine vessels)" (13). Toronto Public Health  anticipates that if global warming continues at this same rate, by 2050 there will be a 20% increase of air-pollution related deaths in the GTA (7).
